Pacherhof Hotel

Projects

The project for the expansion of the Pacherhof wineries signed by the Bergmesiterwolf Architekten studio is grafted into the Isarco Valley, where the vineyards are not only a landscape element, but also a cultural one: the ancient wine farm is located near the abbey of Novacella

The intervention expands the structure of the winery, working on both the existing parts and on a partially underground extension, connecting them and setting their respective accesses by means of a staircase and a tunnel. This expansion, combined with the existing structure, allows to produce, work, taste and sell wine in the same architectural ensemble.

In addition to the old farm, the other emergency on the lot is a monolithic tower that houses a tasting room. With its pure volume, accentuated by the openings flush with the bronze panels of the coating, this room stands out against the chromatically similar background of the Alps. The production of wine takes place in the basement, in fact the fruits of the harvest are transported through an opening in the attic, which connects to the ground floor. Oak barrels and steel tanks are inserted between the old vaults and the new geometries, constituting the nerve and production point of the winery itself.

The intervention therefore plays on wise combinations and contrasts. First of all, the contrast between the existing structure and the new wine cellar is underlined by calculated and rationalized distances between the existing and the grafts, secondly by the choice of materials and colors: the grey but smooth plaster and the wood of the ancient structure are combined with a rough finish and the metal of the extension, while the semi-transparent steel carpet of the entrance staircase overlooks the stone staircase without denying its presence.
